The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, were very active in the Greenville community and surrounding areas during the month of April. During an intense playoff series with in state rival South Carolina, the Swamp Rabbits participated in 8 local community events. With the summer months in sight, the Swamp Rabbits organization is putting a big emphasis on community involvement and giving back through the off-season as one of their most successful seasons on and off the ice comes to a close.
The Swamp Rabbits busy community schedule kicked off on Saturday, April 1st where the Swamp Rabbits were involved with four separate events around The Upstate. Everyone’s favorite Swamp Rabbit, Stomper, visited the South Carolina Autism Society Strides for Autism Walk at Heritage Park in Simpsonville. The event helped raise money for Autism support, education, advocacy and training. For more information about the South Carolina Autism Society click here. Stomper also made an appearance at Walk MS Upstate, hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Imagine Upstate STEAM Fest at Fluor Field. As local students explored Math and Science related exhibits, they enjoyed some street hockey at the Swamp Rabbits area. There, they learned the physics of shooting and passing and had the opportunity to sign up for the TruMoo Kids Club.
The annual CDS Cornhole Derby was also held on April 1st. Director of Corporate Partnerships, Tim Rankin and Account Executive, Dan LaLonde represented the Swamp Rabbits, taking home fourth place out of 14 teams. All of the money raised at this event went to the Center for Developmental Services.
To celebrate Greenville County’s Spring Break, The Greenville Zoo hosted their annual Get Out and Play Day. The event encouraged kids to live a healthy, active lifestyle while enjoying the great outdoors! The Swamp Rabbits brought some street hockey equipment for local kids to play with. As the playoff run continued through the middle of the month, the Swamp Rabbits continued to make a conscious effort to be involved in The Upstate. On Thursday, April 20th, Stomper visited the Carolina Miracle League’s 10th anniversary game in Spartanburg. The night was full of fun for all as the baseball league for special needs children celebrated 10 years of success.
Following a hard-fought Game 5 vs South Carolina, Stomper visited the Kids Fest at Heritage Green in Downtown Greenville. More information on the event hosted by Greenville First Steps can be found by clicking here.
On the afternoon of Tuesday April 25th, Furman University hosted their annual “Dins Day” at Nose Dive in Downtown Greenville. The event is a celebration of the last day of classes and encourages spirit and giving among students, families and alumni. The event raised $1,292,412.63 to go towards benefiting Furman students.

Locker Room Sale: Mark your calendars on Thursday May 11th and Friday May 12th for the annual Greenville Swamp Rabbits Locker Room Sale. There will be game used skates, sticks and other equipment up for sale. There will also be jerseys and other merchandise available for purchase. The times of the equipment sale are listed below, this event will take place in the Hop Shop inside of the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
