Greenville, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (7-3-1-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Adam Chapie has earned the team’s first call up of the 2017-18 season. The New York Rangers prospect has been reassigned to the Wolf Pack from the Swamp Rabbits. Chapie joins the Wolf Pack after playing 24 games for Hartford last year.
Chapie, 26, has stormed out of the gate as one of the ECHL’s elite skaters. The second-year pro leads the team and ranks second in the ECHL with eight goals in 11 contests. Chapie’s 17 points (8G, 9A) are second best in the league behind teammate Allan McPherson. Thursday morning Chapie capped a three-goal comeback, scoring in overtime. It was one of two game-winning goals he has scored this year. The right-handed shooter has helped Greenville achieve the league’s second ranked power play, leading the ECHL with eight points (2G, 6A) on the man advantage.
The Lake Orion, Michigan native surpassed his production from his rookie season eight games into the 2017-18 campaign. Chapie earned 12 points (4G, 8A) in 24 games with the Swamp Rabbits last year, adding a pair of assists during three playoff games.
Chapie’s call up is the second of his professional career. The winger was reassigned to Hartford on Dec. 7, 2016 and played 24 games for the Wolf Pack, collecting four assists. Chapie missed the month of January during his call-up due to injury and was later reassigned to Greenville ahead of the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound University of Massachusetts-Lowell alum finished his NCAA career with 95 points (46G, 49A) in 148 games with the River Hawks. Chapie achieved a career-best 35 points (16G, 19A) in 39 games as a senior. As a freshman, Chapie helped his alma mater achieve the university’s first Hockey East Championship and a Frozen Four appearance in 2013.
Chapie and the Wolf Pack take the ice in Bridgeport, Connecticut tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and host the Laval Rocket on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. The Swamp Rabbits return to action on Wednesday morning for a 10:30 a.m. start against the Atlanta Gladiators. Greenville has won six straight games and boast the ECHL’s top scoring offense, netting 51 goals in 11 games.
